Day 1: Color Scheme Game Workshop (Tuesday, June 18)

Using a limited palette of one yellow, one red and one blue tube of watercolor paint, explore the full spectrum, high intensity colors those three hues are capable of producing. The Color Scheme Game is a playful tool, making it fun to learn the characteristics of your pigments while experimenting with twelve different color schemes … a great way to strengthen the color harmony in all your paintings.

Required Materials for Day 1

-Pencil

-Permanent Fine Tip Marker such as a Sharpie

-Watercolor Tubes (One each of any yellow, blue or red)

-Two containers for water

-Paper Towels

-Scissors

-Scrap Paper

-Watercolor paper, four sheets, hot press or cold press, approximately (11 x 14″)

-Circular watercolor palette (10 hole or 12 hole)

-Either an additional circular palette or any other watercolor palette (for mixing slightly larger amounts of color.)

*Please bring beverage and food to eat for snack and lunch.

Day 2: Color Value Workshop (Wednesday, June 19)

Determine the gray scale values of the colors you mix. Learn to create strong compositions and expressive moods in your paintings by choosing your colors by their value rather than their hue.
