As I mentioned in a previous post, I demonstrated several watercolor techniques during the demonstration for WASCO last month. Due to the nature of the techniques, I did not complete any of the paintings during the demo. As I complete them back in my studio, I post the results to share with those who attended the demo. Today I completed the second of four.
All of the paintings began with the exact same composition created from two circles and three rectangles.
Watercolor techniques: Thrown paint, splattered paint, glazes, mouth atomizer application, removal of paint with wet sponge, sponged over templates for both paint application and paint removal, painted templates pressed onto paper acting as a stamp.
Both paintings were done with a limited palette of three pigments: aureolin, alizarin crimson and ultramarine blue.
