I love my plein air easel and my plein air umbrella. They are great when I am using my car to get where I’m going. They are not great when I am flying and packing light. My rule is to travel by air with only a personal bag and a carry on. What is the solution? I have two solutions. The first is to carry a tripod stool. The second is to pack an over-the-shoulder plein air easel made from 1/2 inch thick foam core! I pack both in my carry-on.
No, I’m not left-handed. I struggled to take the photo myself.
I went through several stages of brainstorming with myself before i came up with a solution that actually worked.
Combined with a slip knot, the easel is totally adjustable and secure.
More details to come after I put it to the real test in France.
