Baer, draws pictures for the people he loves and misses if he hasn’t seen them in a while. I travel a lot, so he misses me and showers me with art whenever I see him. He also gifted me with a tiny red, velvet bag during one of our sleepovers when we camped on his bedroom floor. Inside the bag was a tiny character and half a dozen balloons.
I brought the little bag of toys with me on my recent trip to California, a piece of love in my backpack. I miss him when I travel. Following his example, I drew a picture of his toys for him. I’m giving it to him later today when we make holiday cookies together. I could have purchased a little souvenir for him, something anyone could purchase from a store. I could have brought back a pebble or a shell, a bit more unique. As an artist, I am able to create something totally unique, a part of myself, to share with those I love. Whether rich or poor, I can always create a drawing and give it as a very special gift.
