Imagine if my palette had been spring colors of pinks, purples, robin egg blues and chartreuse. The emotional impact would have been totally different.
Drawn first in ink with a dip pen, followed by washes of watercolor. I can’t resist those final streaks and dots of red, especially when a painting is headed in such a dark direction. The red keeps it from totally falling into the pit of darkness.
