That a friendship can continue to grow, become more enriched, stronger, more powerful and fun after sixty three years is remarkable and wonderful. Happy Birthday Kathleen! When we were two, we couldn’t even imagine being sixty-five let alone imagine the fun we would still be having together at this age.
How does this post relate to art … my journey as an artist? I would not be who I am, see the world as I do, trust friendship, demand far more than scratching the surface of life, if it weren’t for Kathleen and the ups and downs we have weathered together, offering a hand when needed and a heart when needed even more. Creativity thrives on support and encouragement to follow the path illuminated from within, not necessarily the path lit by the lights on the highways. Kathleen and I are always ready with a match to relight each other’s inner flame when it has been snuffed in one way or another.
