Over the past several years I’ve been able to avoid the hardships that result from hurricanes and blizzards in New Jersey. I fly off to California to teach, leaving Tom home without power, without water and without heat. Fortunately for Tom, he didn’t lose power during the snowstorm of the century. While he was shoveling snow, I was forced to spend an extra three days painting in Maui due to Newark Airport being closed. Poor me!

I’m already looking forward to returning to Maui.
