Materials List for March 12, 2016 workshop at DCA: Playful Watercolor Techniques
Bag Lunch, snacks and beverage
Hair dryer (don’t worry if you don’t have one, I will bring one, too)
Permanent Fine Tip marker such as Sharpie or Pigma Micron (02, 03 or 05)
Three containers for water
Watercolor Palette with separate wells for pigments (to keep your pigments clean) and plenty of mixing surface.
Painting smock or apron if you wish
Watercolor tubes, not pans.
One YELLOW, either warm or cool
One BLUE, either warm or cool
One COOL RED
One WARM RED
(A total of four tubes of watercolor pigment, one yellow, one blue & two reds.) See listing of pigments, at the end of this list, to determine your choices.
Watercolor brushes – I suggest a round or flat #10 and #6 as well as a broad brush for laying down large washes (1 1/2” or 2” flat or Hake brush)
Watercolor paper (hot press and/or cold press) (quality paper, not student grade)
minimum size 11” x 14” Four sheets so that you may be working on more than one at a time.
Cool Yellows: Cadmium Lemon, Hansa Yellows, Bismuth Yellow, Lemon Yellows, Nickel Titanate, Aureolin
Warm Yellows: Cadmium Yellows, Hansa Yellow Deep, Gamboge, Nickel Dioxine, Yellow Ochre
Cool Blues: Cobalt Teal, Cobalt Turquoise, Cerulean Blue, Phthalo Blue, Manganese Blue, Joe’s Blue
Warm Blues: Ultramarine Blue, Indanthrone Blue
Cool Reds: Magenta, Alizarin Crimson, Quinacridone Carmine, Quinacridone Rose, Quinacridone Crimson
Warm Reds: Cadmium Reds, Vermillion, Pyrrole Red, Cadmium Scarlet, Pyrrole Scarlet
