The trend to eliminate the arts from so many of the public schools worries me. Complaining about it doesn’t accomplish anything. Two years ago I decided to introduce the joy of art through math and science in the form of workshops to elementary and high schools. The schools’ lack of funding and my lack of a Masters Degree led to my decision to take my idea out into the streets.
Not giving up on my initial idea to inspire math and science through art as well as art through math and science, I’ve now started a fundraising campaign to create a free ebook for teachers, students and families, as well as additional funds to teach FREE workshops in schools near the facilities where I teach my drawing and painting workshops in California and Maryland.
I may also use the funding to present free workshops to families in libraries. The tetrahedra and octahedra make wonderful mobiles to remind kids of the great times they had on a family vacation or road trip! Soooo much better than missing the mountains, lakes, trees, buildings and sunsets because they are watching a movie in the backseat of the car.
Here is a link to the fundraising campaign. I am determined to infect people of all ages with the joy of art, math and science!
