I painted to variations of this week’s You Choose. By Tuesday evening I hadn’t received a choice, so I used Peggy’s choices from a previous week. On Wednesday morning I received choices from Betsy, so I printed out a copy of the line drawing and painted Betsy’s choices, too.
Peggy Bjarno chose Color Scheme #1 (Complementary) and Hue # 6 (Blue-Violet) My palette was Blue-Violet and Yellow-Orange plus neutrals and dilutions mixed from these hues. My pigments were gamboge, cadmium red light, alizarin crimson and ultramarine blue.
Betsy’s chose color scheme #12 (Semi-Triad) and Hue #10 (Red/Orange). My palette was Red/Orange, Red/Violet and Yellow/Green plus neutrals and dilutions mixed from these hues. My pigments were aureolin, gamboge, cadmium red light, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue and Manganese Blue.
I will be traveling again as well as teaching a number of workshops. I will be posting the You Choose Game only once or twice a month from now on. There are so many other sketches I want to post and there’s never enough time to do it all. With travel comes a lot of great en plein air and urban sketching!
