Link to Color Exercises Directory. 2 Responses to Exercise Five is now posted Chris Carter February 24, 2010 Both Alizarin Crimson and Viridian had always intimidated me, overpowering other pigments in my paintings if not used with a pinch rather than a dollop. I find it amusing that I can now use both in full strength or tempered just a touch either with the other or a touch of ultramarine blue. All three have a very dark intrinsic value and when used to indicate a dark valued shape, they dance together well. They create movement and interest in their darkness without causing problems in the rest of the painting. Reply lindahalcombfineart February 24, 2010 I am really impressed with both of these.
