My paintings of J B at the Blues Jam are always a bit different from the rest. I’m not sure why, but I like them.
I used bright orange in almost all the other paintings I did last night. This one is quite minimal, taking advantage of the play of yellow against purple, and its neighbor dark blue. J B’s guitar strap is unique. Maybe that’s what hijacks my brain and allows me to try something different.
Like all the others, I started with a quick drawing with a dip pen and black ink. Then I followed with brush strokes of watercolor: dioxazine purple, ultramarine blue and aureolin.
