There are memories I would like to erase. At the top of the list is the moment I realized I’d been duped and risked losing my house if I didn’t stop a publisher in Hong Kong from going to print within the next thirty minutes. As a result of that experience, I don’t dare step on anyone’s toes by referring to my “Zendala Inspired Art” as Zendalas. The term Mandala has been used for thousands of years and there is no risk of toe-crushing.
Next in line is the book of delightfully fun ….dala art. Decodala has already been tied to the Zendala Movement. A few toes are asking to be stepped on if I referred to the art as a collection of Decodalas. What is safe? I thought Zakar Art was safe. No such luck. another memory to erase. I played around on Google Translate and ended up with Finnish translations that worked better than anything else…. Graafadala, Piirodala, Mallidala and my favorite, Suunnitelladala. I went to bed with a headache and didn’t sleep a wink.
I wanted something simple. So simple it will be. The title of the next collection of art is Dala: Transforming Reality with Pen and Brush.
Thanks, Deb and Maria for guiding me back to a simple solution!
