Abergavenny, Wales – October 5, 2016 – Day Four
Another great day in Abergavenny!
I couldn’t resist requesting black pudding with my breakfast again. So much for my tendency to choose a vegetarian or vegan diet. When I travel, I break all rules and eat the specialties of the area.
Each day my students suggest new places and stores for me to explore in the village.
And here they are … sketching during their lunch break! That’s dedication!
When I returned to The Guest House at the end of the day, I checked to see who the five lucky winners of the Strada Easel 30 Day Challenge were. All artists who painted en plein air and posted a photo of the painting every day throughout the month of September were entered into a drawing to win a Strada Easel of their chose. Finally, the fifth lucky winner’s name was drawn out of the bag.
I was thrilled to see my name backwards on my screen. I had used a micro Strada easel to paint my daily paintings in Paris. As my prize, I chose the full-size Strada. It was difficult to be alone after winning the challenge. I walked into town for a bit of conversation and a pint of ale to toast to my good fortune.
I eventually ended up at the pub where I began to sketch the people who had gathered to share events of the day. A group of seven joined me at my table and the evening conversation began.
