Day One in Abergavenny, Wales
October 2, 2016
Moving on … after three days of exploring Bristol, I was picked up from my AirBnB across the River Avon in Bedminster.
Without question, I will return to Bristol for at least a week. My love for history was rekindled. the entire time I was in Bristol I felt as if I were traveling in Dr. Who’s Tardis. Since I’m working my way backwards, you will have to wait to see photos of Bristol. On this day, October 2, 2016, Jill and her daughter drove me across the suspension bridge and introduced me to the magic of Wales.
It is now mandated that all signs must be written in both English and Welsh. Children are require to learn Welsh in the schools. The combinations of letters and double letters in the Welsh language look like the words I invented to play Scrabble before I knew how to read or write. I wonder if anyone plays Scrabble in Welsh. As you can see, I’m fascinated with the signage, the graphical aspect of the Welsh language as well as the terminology used in English such as “GIVE WAY”.
